It's Been a Week...

...so I guess I will finish posting Halloween photos!

Halloween night we went to a party at our church. We had a great time and I hope to do it again next year!

Happy Anniversary

Today my grandparents, L.C. and Peggy Clark, are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary! What a wonderful milestone it is! I am so thankful for the loving example of marriage that these two have set for our family. We are celebrating this weekend with the family.
This photo was taken in 1944 when my grandparents first began dating. My grandfather always tells us a story that happened before they dated. He was a couple years older than my grandmother. One afternoon she was in her yard wearing her majorette boots. My grandfather called out the school bus window to her saying,"Look at them bird legs!!!" It was not soon after that that he met her on the school bus and they began dating.

My grandfather graduated high school and joined the Navy. He got out of the Navy in the spring of 1948 and they were married the following November. What a beautiful couple they are!

Trunk or Treat

Wednesday evening our church had Trunk or Treat for the kids. We had a fellowship meal followed by trunk or treating in the parking lot. Grant had a good time and got so much candy that he couldn't carry his Thomas the Train bucket anymore. He was a train engineer while (obviously) Erin was a bumble bee. Grant refused to wear the authentic railroad hat and handkerchief so his costume was not complete. I figured it didn't matter as long as he was having fun. He did, however, carry around his train whistle and "blew it" at each car upon request. Erin was just plain cute! I love this costume!

This is the best I could do at getting a picture of the two of them together. Grant was too excited!

I have been extremely busy lately and I haven't had time to post. I promise to put some pictures up from our Halloween festivities very soon!

Air Show and Pumpkin Cake

It's been a long time since I last posted here on the blog. We have been pretty busy around here. Not to mention that I am completely wrapped up in the Twilight series of books. I finished the second book in a day! (I can't believe it either!) I usually am not one to read for pleasure. The last book I read was Dare to Discipline and The Strong-Willed Child. (I wonder why I read those!!!!) I know we are going to have several posts coming due to the Halloween Holiday so I better catch you up on what has been going on around here.

Saturday morning Stephen, Grant, my dad and father-in-law went to the air show that was at NAS JAX. I had wanted to go this year, but I had too much to do and as you can tell it was a damp day and I didn't want to get Erin out in that kind of weather. Us girls stayed home and made made apple butter and decorated a pumpkin cake for dinner that night. ( and I read a lot)

Grant liked her and would wave to her. He really enjoyed the smaller planes, but I am not so sure he enjoyed the jets. They were too loud. Next time Stephen is going to bring ear muffs for Grant to wear.

Conner's A-Maize-ing Acres

This evening we went to the pumpkin patch here in North East Florida. We started the tradition of going last year. We had a great time, although we are very tired tonight! Erin and I rode on the cow train. Grant was scared of it even though he loved it last year! His favorite part of the trip was the playground. We all enjoyed the hay ride. We went with a group from our church. There are several posts from our trip. Enjoy!

Girl's Night Out

Last night I had the pleasure of attending our monthly "Girl's Night Out" with my friends from church. This month we went to Queen B's Pottery. I had such a great time. This was the first time I have ever painted pottery and I loved it! I am already planning a trip back with Stephen and the kids. I have always loved the plates that my friend Kristi has made with her kids' hand prints so I would like to make a Christmas plate like that. This is my plate before it is fired in the kiln. It should be ready to pick up sometime this week. I will post a finished picture of it later.

Next month we are planning to see the movie Twilight. Just about everyone has read the book. I, however, must have been living under a rock for the past year because I did not know about it. I purchased the book and I hope to get it read soon. I just need to find some free time!

Our Little Buzzy Bee-Take 1

Wow! It's been a week since I last posted anything on my blog. We have been pretty busy. Erin is still taking two or three steps on her own before falling down. Luckily, I think it will be a while before she is signing up for any marathons! She has, however, cut her first two teeth. I thought Grant was a bad teether. He always had the yucky nose and diapers and a terrible diaper rash. Erin, however, has just been incredibly cranky. Monday night she fussed and cried for about three hours straight. She only wants mama to hold her, but even I can't make her feel better. She's been very restless during the night crying out a lot. Monday night I got just a few hours of sleep. Last night she was still fussy, but she was not so bad.

Today I took her to the doctor was her flu shot booster. When I got home we all went outside to play. (A must around here!) Then it was nap time. I made another pillowcase dress for a friend at church. That makes three that I have made this week. Then I decided I needed to get pictures of Erin in her Halloween costume.

As you can see she did not want her picture taken!

This is classic Erin. Whenever she gets mad she throws her head down on the ground and starts crying so hard she can't catch her breath. It's really sad, but it's all for show. I have learned that as quickly as she turns it on she can turn it off!

Here she is right after she caught her breath. She lifts up that head and lets out a wailing cry!

You Are NOT Going To Believe This!

So our little Erin has been standing freely on her own for about a month now. She has also been cruising around the furniture and has even attempted a few steps before falling down. She usually only made one or two steps before she fell. Well just a little while ago she took off walking straight into my arms. She made at least five steps! I know everyone out there probably thinks I am lying, but my mother-in0law and Stephen's grandmother witnessed it too! Now I just need to catch her with the video camera. I remember following Grant around all day after he walked to me hoping to capture him walking.

We have lift off...and a taste of Fall

It's official! Erin is crawling. She has been crawling for a week now, but the bad blogger that I am has not had time to document this momentous occasion.

I tried my hand at another taggie blanket. This one is for my friend Tricia to give as a gift.

I made this Halloween dress for Erin this week. She wore it to church Wednesday night.

The weather is beautiful outside! It felt like fall this morning. I quickly ditched my plans to go shopping with the kids to enjoy the nice weather. I am sure they didn't mind!
